Vice President of Operations and Head Strength & Conditioning Coach

Dan Mozes has been with the company since its inception, and has been coaching alongside Mike Barwis since 2008. Dan personally trains some of the best athletes in the world on a daily basis. Previous to his work with Barwis Methods, Dan was a strength and conditioning coach at the University of Michigan for both of the football and hockey programs.

Dan has been highly involved in athletics for many years as he played for the Minnesota Vikings for 2 years, was a four year starter in college, and is widely considered to be one of the greatest lineman to play for West Virginia University. Dan was one of only a few Consensus All Americans in the school's history. He won the Rimington Trophy in his senior season, garnering him recognition as the nation’s best center in NCAA football. Dan was also an Outland Trophy finalist, Lombardi Award semifinalist, a three-time first-team All-Big East selection, Academic All-American, a participant in the Senior Bowl, and a member of the Fox Sports All-Decade Team.

Autumn Barwis served as the Associate Director of Strength and Conditioning for the University of Michigan football team. She taught pilates and yoga to the team, as well as to professional football and hockey players. Prior to coming to Michigan, Barwis was the Associate Director of Strength and Conditioning at West Virginia University where she directly worked with gymnastics, women’s soccer and football as well as supervising several other sports.

She joined the Mountaineer Strength Program in 2000 as an intern, and worked as a graduate assistant and then assistant and associate coach for varsity sports until her most recent promotion in February of 2004.

Autumn, a former collegiate gymnast, is a 2001 Wilson College graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise and Sports Science and a minor in athletic coaching. She completed work on a Master’s Degree in Athletic Coaching with an emphasis in strength and conditioning at WVU in 2003.

She is CSCS and NASE certified and is also an aerobics instructor. Barwis has trained eight NSCA All-Americans and has worked with professional football, motor cross, baseball, and elite track and field athletes.

Donny Vanker assists Mike Barwis with the management of all the Barwis entities and affiliated non-profits. He first interacted with Mike and the team when his son, Hudson, began to train with Mike seeking help standing and walking without braces or support. After developing a friendship with Mike and realizing they held the same philosophies on God and people, Mike brought Donny on to help build a business department to keep up with the needs of the exploding organizations.

Prior to joining staff in 2013, Donny was a pastor for 7 years teaching students and adults, building volunteer teams, managing events, counseling, and training leaders. He was also a former small business owner and sales manager in construction related businesses and worked in the financial industry right out of college. He graduated in 2000 from Wheaton College with a BA in History.

Director of Operations and Head Strength & Conditioning Coach, Barwis Methods Training Center of West Mighican

Marcus Kinney has worked as the Director of Strength and Conditioning at Tulsa University (2007), an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach at Kansas State University (2000-2004), and the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach at the U.S. Naval Academy (1998-2000).

Marcus is a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD Candidate) Kinesiology Youth Resistance Training Emphasis. He received a Master’s Degree in Athletic Coaching from West Virginia University and a B.S. in Sports Medicine and Athletic Training from Wilmington College.

A United States Army veteran, Marcus is CSCS certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and is also certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association.

John Jeffrey earned his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from Eastern Michigan University. John is USA Weightlifting, CPR and AED certified.

Bryan Wright

Director of Operations and Head Strength & Conditioning Coach, Barwis Methods Training Center of Port St. Lucie

Bryan oversees the training, program sales and operations for the Port St. Lucie training center. Since 2013 Bryan was the running back coach at UC Davis and helped the Aggies enjoy their best rushing season in more than a decade. Prior to coaching at UC Davis, Bryan was a strength and conditioning coach under Mike Barwis at West Virginia University, as well as at the University of Michigan where he working with running backs.

Bryan played football at West Virginia in 2002, earning Rookie of the Year and Weight Lifter of the Year honors from the Mountaineers as a running back and kick returner. He transferred to Shepherd University for his final two seasons in 2006-07. The Rams won a pair of West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference titles and advanced to the NCAA Division II Playoffs.

Bryan earned his Bachelor's degree in Fitness and Exercise Science before receiving his Master's degree in Athletic Coaching Education from West Virginia.

Mike graduated from Albion College in 2004 where he played baseball and studied exercise science and physical education. In 2007 he become an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Mike was the director of Michigan Rehabilitation Specialists Performance Training branch for 3 years and in July of 2011 he began working at Barwis Methods as an Assistant Strength Coach. During his time there, Mike worked directly with professional athletes, general population clients, and high school athletes, operating as the Strength and Conditioning Coach for Hartland High School since 2010. In November of 2013, Mike was promoted to the Director of Operations for Barwis Methods of Livingston County and oversees all performance training at the Legacy Center.

Garek Henry is from St. John’s, Michigan where he spent time as a volunteer assistant baseball coach. He played two years of baseball at Lansing Community College and went on to earn his Bachlor's Degree in Health Studies from Michigan State University. He is also CPR/AED certified by the American Red Cross.

Megan joined our team Spring of 2014 after interning with us Summer 2013 before going back to finish school. She graduated from Lake Superior State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, an Associate's Degree as a Health/Fitness Specialist, and minors in coaching and nutrition. She is CPR and AED certified through the American Red Cross.

Mike has joined the staff as an assistant strength & conditioning coach. He has received his bachelor's and master's degree in exercise science from East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania. Mike has spent four years as an Assistant Strength Coach at High Point University, two years as the Director of Strength & Conditioning for Olympic sports at Murray State University, and recently left the University of Louisiana at Monroe to join the staff at Barwis Methods. He holds certifications with the National Strength and Condition Association (NSCA) as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Strength and Conditioning Certified Coach (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA), and is a Certified Sports Performance Coach through USA Weightlifting. Mike also holds his CPR/AED through the American Red Cross.

Nick Lucius earned his Bachelor of Science in Clinical Exercise Science from Grand Valley State University in 2012. He is currently in his final year of the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at the University of Michigan. Nick is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) accredited through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Previously Nick has served an internship role at BarwisMethods in Plymouth. He is CPR/AED certified through the American Red Cross.

Connor joined our team in July 2013 and currently serves in the business department as the Chief Financial Officer. Connor overseas the finances of all of the Barwis Methods entities. Connor graduated in 2012 from Wheaton College of Illinois with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business.

Jareth joined our team in January 2014. Prior, Jareth was a three-letterwinner on the University of Michigan football team, appearing in 40 games at long and short snapper on special teams, including the 2012 All-State Sugar Bowl victory against Virginia Tech. His first two seasons, Jareth played under Head Coach Rich Rodriquez and Strength & Conditioning Coach Mike Barwis before transitioning for his final three seasons to Head Coach Brady Hoke and his staff. After completing his college career, Jareth was invited to the New Orleans Saints rookie mini camp before the 2014-15 NFL season. Jareth also earned three Academic All-Big Ten honors (2011-13) while completing both a Bachelor's of Science degree in Movement Science and a Master's of Arts degree in Sport Management from the University of Michigan's School of Kinesiology.

Jade Wright joined the Barwis Methods team in January 2015. Jade graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism in December 2007. Prior to joining the Barwis Methods team, Jade was the Marketing Specialist for a nonprofit organization in northern California.

Han is originally from China and dedicates herself to the Sports Philanthropy Field. She started to work for Barwis Methods in July 2014 after graduating from the University of Michigan with a Master’s Degree in Sport Management. She is responsible for event planning, fundraising and other administrative work for the Athletic Angels Foundation and First Step Foundation.

Ron Herzog

Facilities Manager

Ron joined our team in September of 2014 but has been working with us for over 2 years with various facility projects. Ron retired from GM after 32 years and now serves as our full-time Facilities Manager. His responsibilities include managing the Plymouth Store, maintaining all of Barwis Methods' equipment, installation of equipment, stores, displays, and general carpentry at all of our facilities. He is a jack of all traits!
